GUIDELINES TO MAKE YOUR WRITING CREATIVE

GUIDELINES TO MAKE YOUR WRITING CREATIVE

Are you willing to become an author in future? Or, a secret diarist? If you have the necessary interest and talent but cannot figure out the right way, this article is just for you! Some of us love to read stories from various genres and imagine ourselves as a writer because we know that we are apt for it. However, we don’t know from where to start, what to include and how to end. We all know that the opening lines of a write-up or a novel is crucial…it can decide the fate of your story! When we watch a film and the opening scenes are quite interesting, we can anticipate that the film would be worth watching. The same goes for creative writing as well.

GENERAL GUILDLINES:
HOW TO BEGIN YOUR STORY?

*      You can begin with a beautiful but compact description of a person.
*      You can include an interesting dialogue.
*      You can even introduce several characters right in the beginning instead of a dialogue!
*      You can write a short story based only on one central character. This method is easier for the beginners!
*      Directly establish your point of view and an outline of your story without revealing the central theme.
*      Lastly, you can always include a child narrator and narrate the story from his or her perspective.

NAMING YOUR CHARACTER
Next vital task is to properly name your character. Always remember that your character’s name can decide and reveal several characteristics about the character even before you give your own description! Writers spend enough time to decide the names and sometimes they even change it just before printing it. The names you choose have a strong and subtle influence on how your readers will respond to them.

CHOOSE YOUR PLOT WISELY

The plot definitely has an important role to play. Begin with your favourite plot structure, with which you are absolutely comfortable. Plots may include revenge, rivalry, love, discovery, sacrifice, transformation and many more!

HIGHLIGHTING A SPECIFIC CATEGORY:

CHILDREN’S WRITING
You might think that writing for children must be an easy task. But trust me, it isn’t easy. You need to preplan yourself very well just the way you preplan before writing an adult fiction. However, your thought process will be completely different. Firstly, choose the age group and work accordingly. Secondly, try to personify animals to make your character unique. Children love it! Thirdly, use less description because they have a short attention span. Lastly, always use simple sentences and easy diction with some illustrations, if needed.

Take some time off and observe people around you because some might turn into a character in your next story…isn’t it?
