FRIENDSHIP

A strong friendship doesn't need daily conversation, don't always need togetherness. As long as the relationship lives in the heart, true friends will never part. Anais Nin has rightly pointed out that, "Each friend represents a world in us,a world possibly not born until they arrive ,and it is only by this meaning that a new world is born". Though some people are happy without them, most of us depend greatly on the company of true friends.
Friendship is a stronger form of interpersonal bond than an association. A World Database study found that people with close friendships are happier. Euripedes said, "Friends show their love in times of trouble, not in happiness." True friends can understand our feelings and emotions, even if we do not share anything with them. When people are in a dilemma, true friends help them to come out of the dilemma with some useful suggestions.
In the typical sequence of an individual's emotional development, friendships come after parental bonding and before pair bonding.

CHILDHOOD FRIENDSHIP:

In childhood , friendships are often based on the sharing of toys, and the enjoyment received from performing activities together. These friendships are maintained through affection, sharing and creative playtime.

ADOLESCENCE FRIENDSHIP :

A study examined over 9,000 American adolescents to determines how their engagement in problematic behaviour(such as stealing, fighting etc) was related to their friendships. Findings indicated that adolescents were less likely to engage in problematic behaviour when their friends did well in schools, participated in school activities, avoid drinking, and had good mental health.

ADULTHOOD FRIENDSHIP:

Life events such as marriage, parenthood and accelerated career development can complicate friendships in the transition from young adulthood to middle adulthood.

OLD-AGE FRIENDSHIP:

Among the elderly, friendships can provide links to the larger community;especially for people who cannot go out as often, interactions with friends allow for continued societal interaction. Additionally older adults in declining health who remain in contact with friends show improved psychological well-being.

CULTURAL VARIATIONS:

In Ancient Greece, openness to friendship was seen as an enlargement of the self. In Ancient Greece, the same word, "philos" was used for "friend" and "lover".

ISLAMIC CULTURES:

Friendship is also known as companionship or 'ashab'. Concordance with the perspectives and knowledge of others is considered to be important, forgiveness regarding mistakes and loyalty between friends is emphasized and a "love for the sake of Allah" is considered to be a relationship of the highest significance between the humans.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA:

In the US,many types of relationship are deemed friendships. The friendship bracelets are an American example of the exchange of small tokens of friendship.
There are so many valuable things in life, but friendship is one of the precious gifts of life. Good friends are great pillars of life. According to the great Roman Statesman Cicero, "Friendship increases happiness and diminishes misery by doubting our joy and dividing our grief"
